Why is career counselling important?
Career Counselling helps you get a reality check and helps you analyse your strengths and weaknesses from a rational point of view. A lot of us are inspired or influenced by the media, society, environment and might end up making hasty or uninformed choices. With limited or incomplete exposure, we can only have limited choices. A career counsellor helps you not only in expanding your horizon but also in exploring your true potential.
Why is a psychometric career assessment necessary to choose a career?
A psychometric assessment gives clarity about an individual's interest areas, aptitude, personality type and work orientation. Sometimes it also includes the parameter of emotional quotient. All these parameters give an anchor point to not only makes an individual know themselves better but also a platform to make the right choice under the guidance of a certified career counsellor.
What is the difference and duration of bachelor (graduation), masters (post-graduation) and diploma programs?
A Bachelor's or graduate degree program refers to a program of a duration of 3 to 5 years depending upon the course. Courses like engineering (B.Tech), medicine (M.B.B.S), law (L.L.B), education (B.El.Ed) takes 4-5 years while most Arts and Commerce Programs take upto 3 years.
A diploma refers to a short-term course (usually 1 to 2 years in duration) that focuses on training a person in a particular field.
A masters or a post-graduation degree program refers to a program that is pursued after Bachelors and is of 1-2 years duration depending upon the course. Most postgraduate programs are of 2 years in India that focuses on a Majors and Specialization into one field.
What is the difference between honours and programme courses?
An honours course is focused on a deeper knowledge and specialisation in one subject while a programme course focuses on many subjects in case you are not clear about your specialisation after class XII or wish to pursue a training or certificate in a particular field side by side.
What is the difference between regular, open universities, distance learning and correspondence courses?
Regular courses are the ones where you attend college and course regularly by going to the college and has a fixed attendance schedule.
An open University is a university that provides the policy of open admissions, distance, and online learning programs.
Distance education is a medium of education where students can learn at their own pace and convenience.
Correspondence courses is another form of open education wherein the learning materials are provided by the university or college to the students prior to the start of the course and is self-paced.
Can we do two regular programs together?
No, you cannot do two regular programmes together. However you can do a regular and distance/ correspondence programme together.
